Health Connections 72-Hour Driver Intervention Program (DIP) is a weekend education curriculum designed to recognize thinking errors and facilitate a change in behaviors for individuals who have been charged with a first time OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) in the State of Ohio.

About the event
Health Connections 72-Hour Driver Intervention Program (DIP) is a weekend education curriculum designed to recognize thinking errors and facilitate a change in behaviors for individuals who have been charged with a first time OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) in the State of Ohio. The courts may offer the DIP as an alternative to the mandatory three-day jail sanction for this charge. Participants remain at the location for the entire three days, beginning Thursday evening at 6 p.m. to Sunday evening at 6 p.m.
Upon completion, the referring court is informed within two days.
DIP Curriculum Includes the Following Information:
- Physical, psychological and social consequences of alcohol and drug use
- Physiological and psychological effects of alcohol and other drugs on driving performance
- Blood alcohol content (BAC), drugs and the definition of legal impairment
- Symptoms of alcohol and drug abuse
- The progressive nature of alcohol and drug dependence
- Levels of license suspension and revocation
- Fines and levels of incarceration
- Treatment and self-help resources for alcohol and drug addiction
- Safe driving techniques
The Program includes a personalized screening and may also include a referral for an extensive alcohol and/or drug assessment.
Each 72-Hour Driver Intervention Program is certified through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and is facilitated by licensed and experienced chemical dependency professionals.
